Elementary music education remains deeply influenced by pedagogical systems established prior to the development of digital instructional tools. With the growing prevalence of technology resources in classrooms comes a need for digital tools that align with the practices of instructional principles and strategies. With an emphasis on Orff-Schulwerk, this study examines how pedagogical frameworks can inform user interface and user experience design (UI/UX) through the development and deployment of a Digital Orff Instrumentarium and a contextual inquiry into its usage. Findings from teacher participants identified the importance of adaptable design with design choices that support and expand instructional possibilities while also identifying potential for future development and growth of the tool.
